Twenty-one-year-old, Simone Le Cesne, is an upcoming singer/songwriter born and raised in Upland, CA.The daughter of two musicians- Dad played the trumpet, Mom excels in voice, guitar and piano – Simone was raised with a great love for music. “I remember I was four-years-old and we were at my mom’s concert. She was singing, If I could by Regina Belle and she pulled me on stage to sing to me. It was that moment that changed my life forever.” But it wasn’t until Simone watched the movie, Selena, that she would find her true passion for singing. “I’ve watched Selena over 100 times literally. I was probably 9 or 10 singing Dreaming of You to my little brother every night before bed. That’s when my parents really looked at the bigger picture, wow she can really carry a tune.” At age 10, Simone began taking piano lessons, but lost interest after three years. "I hated piano lessons so much. I just wanted to play songs that I cared about not Yankee Doodle.” It was then that Simone took it upon herself to learn how to play the piano on her own. With the help of YouTube tutorials, piano became second nature to her. “ Cite reading frustrated me. It just didn’t click in my head. Till this day I don’t know how to read notes. I would look up YouTube tutorials to my favorite songs and it just made more sense to me. I know more chords and sounds now then I ever did with a piano teacher.” Her love for music only grew stronger when she was introduced to one of Inland Empire’s top vocal coaches, Billy Purnell. “He really believed in me. He saw my talent and ran with it. My voice would have never developed to be the way it is without him.” With the right guidance, Simone new she was destined for greatness. Simone began performing at local festivals, showcases and open mics. She had the honor to perform the National Anthem for Project Marrow's "Be the Match" walk and run event and received an honorable mention from Perez Hilton with her entry to his Can You Sing Cover Contest. In Perez Hilton's Words, "Simone Le Cesne turned Kiss Me into a Beyonce song. And somehow it works!!! Really well!!!" With a long list of original music held in her song book, there is no telling what this year holds for this “Hidden Gem.” Inspired by artists such as Christina Aguilera, Alicia Keys, Amy Winehouse, Sara Bareilles, Etta James and Joss Stone, all vocal powerhouses; Simone has much to offer with her powerful and soulful, yet unique sound. Her goal for 2014 is to not only share her music with the world but to connect with her audience and allow them to see the truth within her lyrics. "I write from the heart. My songs are 100% who I am. My wish is for my fans to not only connect with who I am as an artist but who I am as a person. That is very important to me!"
